The brand will now be delivering the range to 108 company-owned Spar stores in Scotland from 3 February, via wholesaler CJ Lang & Son.

The range was initially available in selected CJ Lang sites last summer, but the new distribution now includes muffins and buns, as well as cookies.

Rich’s said more and more shoppers are looking for treats that are worth the calories and the portfolio is “positioned to help convenience retailers offer deliciously indulgent, coffee-shop quality products”.

John Want, sales, marketing, and research and development director at Rich’s, said: “Over the past year we’ve seen a rise in people shopping locally – in fact, social media searches for ‘local shops’ are up by 179%.

“This means consumers are not just popping in for their essentials but relying on their nearby convenience store for more premium, special products too.

“Not only does our Baked range taste amazing, but it stands out on shelf thanks to our vibrant and enticing packaging.

“As a result, our cookies have already become a best-selling bakery line within CJ Lang, and we are excited to amplify this success with the full range.”

Stephen Brown, head of food-to-go for CJ Lang & Son, added: “Never has it been more important to offer shoppers a range of products, attractively priced through their local convenience store.

“With Spar stores the length of Scotland, we at CJ Lang are perfectly placed to expand our product offering.
