Rustlers has received 267 stories from different areas of the convenience channel, including store volunteers, managers, suppliers, and wholesalers over the past four weeks, “highlighting the commitment, passion, and dedication that the sector puts in 7 days a week, 365 days of the year”.

For every story posted online with the hashtag #RustlersRetailHero hashtag, the brand donated £10 to GroceryAid.

Ross Davison, convenience controller at brand owner Kepak, said: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the resilience, generosity and community spirit highlighted in the stories we’ve received throughout the campaign.

“We know there are many, many more unsung heroes out there working extraordinarily hard behind the scenes serving customers and communities, which is why we have decided to triple the amount raised.

Steve Barnes, GroceryAid chief executive, said: “It is fantastic to receive this support from Kepak. We were proud to be associated with an innovative campaign that recognised the vital role played by convenience retailers in society. The generous donation will enable us to support colleagues that need help right now as a result of Covid-19.”
