Mentos rolls out Candy Cane flavour for Christmas

Mentos has launched a limited edition Candy Cane variant for Christmas this year.

The vanilla and mint flavoured variant is available in a £1 multi-pack of three rolls containing 14 festive sweets, which the brand said are perfect for stocking fillers or simply as seasonal treats.

The sweets are available now until the end of the year and “provide an alternative to the heavily saturated chocolate confectionery market, which has seen a steady decline at this time of year – down 7% in value sales in 2019”.

Brand owner Perfetti Van Melle (PVM) said sugar confectionery is seeing a rise in popularity at Christmas time with £1.9m sales growth in 2019 versus the previous year.

It said the launch taps into this demand and is sure to give retailers an opportunity to “give their mint categories a boost during a period of high penetration”.

Sarah Elmer, Mentos brand manager, said: “With Christmas starting earlier and earlier every year, and more competition amongst stores and sectors, retailers can take advantage of the surging demand for festive confectionery with this delicious limited edition.”
