The refurbishment was a co-investment by Appleby Westward and retailers Mark and Estelle Canniford, who have run the Loxton Rd store for a decade.
The couple moved over to Spar at their other shop 13 years ago.
Mark has just completed a two year term of office as Mayor of Weston-super-Mare.
Mark said: “Our move to Spar and the back-up we received gave the us the confidence to invest in the Loxton Rd neighbourhood store 10 years ago.
“Spar has consistently proven to be able to give me the necessary tools and changed my psychology on how to retail.
“Before, I was a shopkeeper. Now, I am a retailer, and there is a big difference.”
