The ‘Del Monte Fruitball Cup 2020’ campaign, which will sit on Facebook and Instagram, will consist of a friendly competition between European nations represented by ‘Fruitball’ players who will be recognisable as some of Del Monte Europe’s range of products, including pineapple and peach slices.

Fans and followers are encouraged to support their own nations during the competition, with prizes given to the most enthusiastic and creative fans, including a special sponsorship deal for an amateur football club.

Del Monte Europe & Africa marketing director, Thierry Montange, said: “We are very excited to launch this fun, exciting and interactive competition that will play to the needs of sporting fans around the world who are seeking activities and excitement to replace the cancelled events of 2020.”

Del Monte has also partnered with online football magazine Mundial to promote the campaign and also offer sports fans the chance to win a split of the €10,000 prize fund for three grassroots football teams.

Consumers will need to follow Mundial (@mundialmag) and Del Monte Europe (@delmonteeurope) and suggest names for the ‘Fruitballers’ and vote for the winners of each of the matches. Winners will be announced across both channels on 6 August 2020.
