Nairn’s, the UK’s number one gluten-free brand has introduced its new 24-case format of its innovative Pop Oats range, the first ever gluten-free popped oat snack. HFSS and school compliant, Nairn’s Pop Oats are light, crispy, full of flavour and a great source of fibre, while also having 60% less fat than regular fried crisps, at only 83 calories per pack.

The healthy savoury snack market is buoyant with significant consumer interest in alternatives to traditional savoury snacks, especially with claims such as less fat and calories, making the popped snack category an appealing sub-sector. There are very few oat-based, ‘crisp alternatives’ on the market, but with Nairn’s expertise in oats since 1896, the brand is well placed to be at the forefront of oat innovation.

Nairn’s Pop Oats range, available in three flavours, Salt & Vinegar, BBQ, and Sour Cream & Chive, is an exciting development for the free from snack category, which offers significantly fewer savoury options than sweet. The Nairn’s Pop Oats range is the first popped oat snack that’s also gluten-free, offering the same texture experience to market leading popped potato snacks, with the associated health benefits of gluten free wholegrain oats.

Ken Cameron, national account controller at Nairn’s, commented: “There is a growing number of customers interested in innovative, healthy and free from snacks which don’t compromise on taste. With new regulations, such as HFSS or the School Food Standards, wholesalers and retailers need to be able to offer options to their customers that are both compliant, but also in line with customer needs. Nairn’s Pop Oats tick many boxes, making them a great savoury snack option to stock in cafés, schools, offices, convenience stores, and more.”

Pop Oats: available in three flavours: Salt & Vinegar, BBQ and Sour Cream & Chive, (20g bag, 24/case), RRP: £0.89-98p per pack.
