As of September, I’m the new identity and access management (IAM) analyst on Forrester’s security and risk research team. I am grateful to have joined a very talented group of analysts at a company that is fun, intellectually stimulating, and committed to high-quality, objective research. In my role, I will be taking over some of the coverage of Merritt Maxim, who was promoted to vice president and research director and now manages the team of Forrester analysts covering identity and devices.

In my role, I’ll be closely collaborating with my cohort, Andras Cser, to extend Forrester’s coverage of the complex and evolving IAM space, which is critically important to Forrester’s Zero Trust model. To better serve our clients, Andras and I will be splitting our IAM coverage between business to employee (B2E) and business to consumer (B2C) use cases. I’ll be leading Forrester’s coverage on B2E IAM, while Andras will lead it for B2C IAM. For topics that transcend these use cases, such as general IAM trends, we will collaborate and share coverage.

My areas of domain coverage within B2E IAM include (but are not limited to):

  • Identity-as-a-service (IDaaS) for the enterprise
  • Identity management and governance
  • Privileged identity management (PIM)
  • Authentication (2FA, adaptive, continuous, etc.)
  • Single sign-on (SSO)
  • User directories
  • API security

Beyond my coverage, I’d like to share a little about my journey that led me to Forrester. I spent the last eight years as the market intelligence guru on the corporate strategy team at CA Technologies (now part of Broadcom). In that role, I worked closely with Forrester, and others, to keep pace with market trends across CA’s security, infrastructure management, and DevOps market segments. Joining Forrester is a natural progression that gives me the opportunity to build on my market and competitive intelligence skills and IAM domain knowledge base. For more details, you can check out my bio. Outside of work, I’m a guitarist, a songwriter, and I do a bit of home recording. My other passion is world travel — my most recent trip was an incredible journey to Middle Earth (New Zealand). Lastly, I grew up in Vermont, near Killington, so I’ve been a skier for as long as I could walk.

Connect with me at Forrester for briefings, inquiries, and advisories on all things IAM B2E. Or track me down at a conference, and let’s talk security, tech, business, world travel, music, guitars, skiing, or whatever!
